Unconditional Love

Unconditional love was a term that immediately caught my attention the first time I heard it. The idea that there could be different types of love fascinated me.

Growing up, we learn about love in familiar forms — family love, friendship love, romantic love. But unconditional love felt different. It stirred something deeper in me. It made me curious.

Why?

Because I noticed as a child that I felt a certain love for the people around me no matter what happened. Even after misunderstandings, even when situations didn’t feel good or didn’t serve me, there was still a sense of love present within me for them.

Yet as I got older, that idea began to feel confusing.

How could I still feel love when others sometimes showed the opposite — especially through their intentions?

So I began journaling.
I started asking questions.
I wanted to understand love.

Now, more than ever, I believe each of us should explore what love truly means for us individually. They say the answer is always love — what the world needs now is to remember what love truly is.

A Realization

Through personal reflection and inner exploration, I’ve come to understand something that shifted everything for me:

Unconditional love is a frequency.

We can only feel love because it already exists inside of us. Feelings are expressions of something internal. Love isn’t something someone else gives us — it is not a physical gift — it’s something we experience from within our own hearts, bodies, and souls.

We can access love at any moment.

And when we truly learn to love ourselves, we can then express that love outwardly in ways that feel authentic and aligned to us. After all, how can we give something we don’t possess? We first cultivate love within — then we share it.

When we prioritize how we love ourselves, we naturally become more capable of being present for others and sharing love with them.

Questions for Reflection

  • What did you think love was when you were a child?
  • What do you believe love is now?
  • What do you want love to look like in your life today?
I was inspired by a heart-focused breathing practice shared by Gregg Braden on YouTube. If you’re curious to explore his explanation, you can search for his heart breathing teachings online and experience his perspective as well.
